“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas Edison

Just came across this short video from Wired about the Tesla Motors factory in Fremont, California. I toured the factory in early May of this year. If you ever have the opportunity to check out the factory, I highly recommend it. Tesla Motors’ ability to constantly tweak and innovate in their products is a much needed change in the automobile industry. Taking lessons from the tech startup world and applying them to manufacturing is refreshing to see. It seems almost alien by the fact that is happening not only in the U.S., but in California as opposed to Detroit.

When I took the tour, the thing that I never got over was the size of the factory complex. The size of the aluminum stamping machines and seeing them in action in real life is unbelievable. Plus it’s mentioned in the video, but the amount of automation and people working alongside the robots is surreal.
