“Where liberty dwells, there is my country.” – Benjamin Franklin

It’s been a while since we’ve sent out a post, and partly due to the fact that our Tesla Model S arrived on June 26th… Over the past week we’ve had the opportunity to enjoy the awesome capabilities of the car. On the Fourth of July, we we’re able to share the car in the Hood River 4th of July Parade. While it was a last minute surprise, it was an honor to be in the parade with the Hood River Valley High School’s electric car program. Students were driving around in electric cars that they had made for their class and got to race all around the state. Our Tesla played the role as mobile mechanic and EV pace car. A couple of the high school EV’s had some of their chains slip, but it was nothing that was out of our realm of expertise.

The parade was a great way to start the day and then we went on our first trip up to Timberline Lodge. Which turned out to be a gorgeous day and great way to test out the real world usage of the battery up the long, steep, twisty roads to Timberline.

Once there the weather and view were amazing. The car also got it’s fair share of admirers. People would walk up and ask, “Is that a Bentley?!” or many other high end European car manufacturers. Then to everyone’s surprise not only was made in America, but it was actually an electric car. It was a great experience for all and we’re looking forward to this upcoming month and some of the great features we have planned.
